Mythology

Unfortunately much of the Hog Mythology was destroyed in the Kutiota Wars (see History section).

The story of the origin of the magic and the Hog race:
In roughly -18,500RH, there were two races within a large valley which deeply despised each other and were constantly at war. One race called the Helves and the other called the Jages.
The Helves:
The Helves were giants who lived in buildings in trees (similar to tree houses), a short Helve was two metres tall. They used massive bows with aerodynamically designed arrows. The Helves were very knowledgeable in mathematics and physics.
The Jages:
The Jages were rather short ranging in height from 1.3 - 1.5 metres. They lived mainly in caves. They were knowledgeable in chemistry and biology. They had an advanced anatomy knowledge and with their chemistry knowledge were able to develop medicines resulting in an advanced medical system.

Now down to the myth itself:
The high prince of the Helves, Knuko while wandering through the forest encountered one which he found more beautiful than any other, this was Tyhata, the high princess of the Jages. They fell immeadiately in love with each other and when they realized that they were bitter enemies it was no matter to them, their bond of love was to strong. Knowing that they could never be together in their society, they fled the valley to live in peace and love. Live was hard, they were cut off from all civilization, but this once no trouble for them, for they were in love.
Meanwhile, the Helves had blamed the Jages for the disappearence of Knuko, on the other hand, the Jages swore that the Helves had captured Tyhata. This resulted in a massive war, there were no stops, both sides were furious with the other and vowed to fight forever whether that meant the annhiliation of both races.
Knuko and Tyhata had a children, twins, a boy and a girl. The odd thing was that neither had features of either Helve of Jage. They deeply wanted to show their childern to their parents and after much consideration decided it was worth the risk. They made the long, hard journey back to the valley, it took them over a year. Both childern, which were named Kari (girl) and Kalvin (boy), had began to walk and talk. They found their homelands in ruins, first they came to the Helve land. They found Knuko's parents. They were confused and after much explaination of what had happened they understood. Then they rushed to Jage land hoping to stop the war. They were successful, the two races joined together as one through the love of Knuko and Tyhata, as Kari and Kalvin grew, it was discovered that they had strange powers, powers which would become known as magic, when they turned 13, they climbed a tall hill in the centre of what had become the capital of the Hog, the name adopted when the Helve and the Jage joined together in peace. They cast an extremely powerful spell and all in the valley were transformed in to forms similar to that of Kari and Kalvin and gained the powers of magic.
According to this legend, all who have the power of magic are decendants of the Hog.
